Prepare yourself for another post in our Crafty Chaos series....

We are back with our second Halloween post, featuring two of our favorite things: hot glue and sparkle! We are so excited to share this DIY crown, which we made for Kaitlyn's funky Queen of Hearts costume! But, of course, you could totally tweak this idea to make it appropriate for almost any princess/queen inspired costume!! And...despite the fact that I'll be giving you pretty detailed step-by-step instructions and is INSANELY quick and easy! Short-project-lovers, rejoice!

Step 1: First, find a suitable crown/tiara. (You didn't see that coming, did you?!) You want something that is either crazy plain, or one that has removable junk on it... In our case, we found a crown at The Dollar Tree that came with pink gems on the top and pink "fwooph" on the bottom--removable junk!

Step 2: Strip it! We just yanked the "fwooph" off, and popped the gems off with a combination of our fingernails and a handy-dandy pair of scissors.

Step 3: Choose your "sparkle!" As you can see, for this project, we choose red tinsel and red rhinestones. Perfect for the Queen of Hearts, right?! You can choose any kind of adhesive gems and any kind of ribbon-ish goodness, in whatever color(s) you want, though! For adhesive gems, rhinestones and pearls are both wonderful choices. And for ribbon-ish goodness, tinsel, sequins, and tulle are all great options.

Step 4: Whip out your hot glue gun, and start lining the bottom of the crown with some gooey glue! It will dry fast, though, so it don't line it all at once. Add a little at a time and start pushing on the ribbon-ish goodness. Simply dab on glue and press ribbon-ish stuff with care, and repeat until the whole bottom line is complete. Just rinse, wash, and repeat. Oops, I mean, dab, press, and repeat!

Step 5: Add your adhesive gems! Press them on HARD and hold a few seconds to ensure they will stay put!

And look at that! You are all done, and you have a totally awesome, revamped crown to show for it! What costume does this lovely crown go with, may I ask? Leave us a comment and let us know!

Happy Halloween prepping!! :)
