OUR PUPPIES LOVE THEIR HOUSE!!

Prepare yourself for another post in our Crafty Chaos series....

We have two adorable puppies, and since they are indoor-outdoor dogs, we wanted them to have an extra special house of their own for the times they are outside!! My dad found the doghouse plans online for their little home and built it himself. Then, Kaitlyn and I painted the house to add some color and personality! We absolutely LOVE how it turned out--and Shadow and Sprinkle love it, too!

We purchased two different paint colors from Lowes to paint the house. We bought a gallon of Valspar exterior paint with a satin finish in "Twinkle Night" and a quart of Olympic exterior paint with a satin finish in "Yellow Lettuce." "Twinkle Night" is a medium to dark shade of purple-toned blue, which we used as base for the whole house; "Yellow Lettuce" is a light, bright green, which we used for the trim, plaques, and accenting paw prints. We picked up paw print stencils for $1.80 at Hobby Lobby with our 40% off coupon, and used a small, round sponge brush (specifically for stenciling) to lightly sponge on "Yellow Lettuce" paw prints! Our dad also built plaques with each puppy's name on it to finish off the house.

If you are interested in building a similar doghouse, you can check out other customer completed doghouses at http://www.doghouseplans.com/customers.cfm for some extra inspiration. You can also purchase the doghouse plans at http://www.doghouseplans.com.

We hope you love their dog house as much as we do!! It was so much fun to paint, and our puppies love to cuddle up in it...and play on top of it! Thanks for reading!! :)

RICE CRISPY TREATS: SUMMER STYLE!

Prepare yourself for another post in our Crafty Chaos series....

We made the traditional rice crispy treats you know and love, and put a fun summer twist on them with some cookie cutters and white chocolate! This is nothing too fancy, but we just want to give you a brief overview of what we came up with, because these sweet treats were pretty fun and turned out cute! :)

After we made our treats, we cut them into different fun summer shapes, like flip flops, sunglasses, ice cream cones, and ice cream sundaes!! We just used some nice Wilton cookie cutters from Gordman's ($2.99 for a pack of 3!) to do that.

Then we dumped some white melting chocolate into a bowl and used food coloring to dye it...

And we poured the white chocolate into out our handy-dandy frosting/decorating bag....

With our frosting bag at the ready, we just started tracing our shapes and making the ice cream, sunglasses, and flip flops look more like ice cream, sunglasses, and flip flops!  And of course, we added a few sprinkles! Oh, and remember, when you're decorating with white chocolate, remember less is more!

We enjoyed making the treats and were happy to take them to a few friends! Hopefully they thought they were as cute as we did!

DIY NAIL POLISH STORAGE!!

Prepare yourself for another post in our Crafty Chaos series....

We love nail polish! Nail polish is a fabulous, inexpensive, and easy way to add a little more style to any look. For us, it is TOO EASY to walk into a store without any intention of buying nail polish, but walk out with two or three new colors anyway! But storing and organizing it--well, that's another story! I mean, we can't just leave them anywhere for our puppies to eat, right?! We need some simple, affordable storage solution that will keep those pretty polishes safe, organized, and portable.

We searched for a good way to organize our nail polish for ages! We tried putting our polishes in bowls, which was cute, but not at all organized. We tried putting them on trays, but it was too difficult to carry the trays back and forth without the polishes all falling over, and having to be reorganized yet again. We also considered nail polish racks and shelves, but we would still have a transportation issue. We thought about getting some kind of nail polish caddy, but they tend to be really expensive. We finally decided the best way to keep our polish organized and allow for good transportation would be to find some kind of box, which would have to be the right size--not too tall, and not so wide that it would be impractical, yet large enough to hold a lot and allow our nail polish collections to grow.

We finally found some storage solutions that meet all of our criteria, and we are SUPER excited to share them with you!! We have three different box ideas (two of them are very closely related, though) to keep nail polish organized in style! This means we can still have them out and looking cute, but also have them portable and ready to go wherever you are ready to paint!

SOLUTION 1: CUTE PASTEL STERILITE BOXES

Here we have some flip-top Sterilite boxes we picked up at WalMart for $2.47. They are 12'' wide, 6'' long, and 3.75'' high, which is the PERFECT height for nail polishes, as most nail polishes are about 3'' to 3.5'' tall. They fit approximately fifty nail polishes in each box (about 5 rows of 10, depending on the shape and size of the nail polish bottle), which is amazing!

First we primed the boxes with a white primer from Krylon.

Then, we spray painted them light pastel colors, all from Krylon's Indoor/Outdoor line: "Pistachio," "Ballet Slipper," and "Sun Yellow."

They turned out really cute and fun--if you don't mind that they look a tad like baby wipe boxes!! The funny thing is, Cami did not mind, and Kaitlyn did mind... So, if you glance at the picture above, you can see there are four boxes (one pink, one yellow, and two green). All except for one of the greens are what Kaitlyn initially wanted, until the pastel colors made her think of baby wipe boxes! Then, she decided she wanted to repaint them (which is the second solution--same boxes, TOTALLY different look). But Cami still loves her green box, and I think it suits her style well! She was so excited to fill it up with all her nail polishes, and she doesn't even have the box half filled yet, so she has plenty of room for growth--which is totally appreciated! Now she doesn't have to worry about having to get something new to make more room any time soon!

SOLUTION 2: CLASSY METALLIC STERILITE BOXES

Our second solution is similar to the first, but not as simple and much classier, rather than something super light and simple. We used the same boxes, and primed them just as we did before, and spray painted them different colors--all metallic colors from Krylon: "Nickel," "Sparkling Canyon," and "Caramel Latte."

We added some simple and elegant black and white ribbon, and some adhesive pearls (and you can find both ribbon and pearls at Hobby Lobby for super cheap, especially when they are 50% off)!

That gave these boxes a very sleek finish. Don't they just SCREAM CLASSY?! I have a feeling Audrey Hepburn stored her nail polish in something similar.... But anyway, these are what Kaitlyn turned her original boxes into, and it is quite the transformation! They are totally her style, and I love that! The different colors of pearls help her know what colors are in each box, so she doesn't have to search too much to find that perfect nail polish! And since the pearls are on both the front and side, she can tell no matter which direction the boxes face on a shelf. Like Cami, none of her boxes are even half full--so cheer for room to grow, because you KNOW our collections WILL grow!

SOLUTION 3: SIMPLY STYLISH ZEBRA PRINT PHOTO BOXES

Our third solution still includes boxes, but a totally different kind. These are photo storage boxes, which I picked up for just $2.99 each at Gordman's. They are 7.5'' by 11'', and about 4.5'' tall--so they are similar in size the Sterilite boxes, and hold about the same amount of polishes. Since I am pretty much OBSESSED with zebra print, I decided to pretty much leave them alone and let the zebra stripes do all the talking, rather than clutter up the already loud boxes with a bunch of ribbon or stamps or something.

I did, however, add three small rhinestones on each box (different rhinestones on each one) so I can easily identify what colors are in what box. I know the pinks and neutrals are in the box with pink and black zebra rhinestones; the blues and greens are in the box with light pink rhinestones; the purples, reds, oranges, and yellows are in the box with hot pink rhinestones. Also, I just want to say I really like that some came with black lids and some came with hot pink lids--how fun!

These are super simple, yet bold and stylish with the awesome zebra print. I LOVE them! They are so me! Our puppy, Sprinkle, loves them too! We are also happy to report that I have plenty of room for collection expansion, as well. These boxes are just the perfect homes for my polishes!

Well, those are all three of our DIY nail polish storage solutions! We hope you like them and give one of them a try, or that they at least spark other good ideas! If you do try one of these solutions, then tell us how they turned out! As always, thanks for reading!! :)

DIY BELT ORGANIZATION!!

Prepare yourself for another post in our Crafty Chaos series....

Oh, the frustration those long, skinny things we wrap around our waist can cause!! Belts are not the easiest accessories to store and organize, because laying them in a drawer or on a shelf can be messy--and it can even misshape them if you're not careful.

But don't get all bent up over your bent-up belts yet, because we have found a great, easy, affordable solution! First, just grab a hanger that you already have hanging out in your closet...

Then, pick up a cheap pack of C-hooks, and hang them on the hanger...

And put those pretty belts on the cute little C's....

Keep the belts from sliding all over by tying some ribbon in between each hook--because hangers can't keep balanced themselves, you know!! You will want the ribbon to be about 5/8'' wide and 4'' long, and sealed at the end to prevent fraying. There's no need to trim the long ends of the ribbon after you've tied the ribbon to the hanger. They actually help prevent the hooks from sliding over the knots!

And there you have a super simple belt storage solution, so you can keep them organized and tangle-free! Some people use S-hooks, which is totally fine, but C-hooks work just as well and are way cheaper! We found ours in the bath section at Smith's Marketplace for $2.99.

This is such a quick and easy closet that can make a little more space in your closet, and give you a little more sanity next time you search for the perfect belt to accessorize your outfit!! We hope you love this DIY belt organization tip as much as we do!! :)

By the way, did you happen to see those cute blue nails in that last picture? WHAT? YOU DIDN'T?? Well, scroll up if you need to and take a look!! Go on, scroll up, I will be waiting for you to scroll back down in a few seconds....

Yay, I am so happy you saw those cute nails!! Now, if you LOVE them, then you have to check out our last blog post, devoted to a limited edition nail polish collection from one of our favorite cosmetic companies!

Well, thanks for reading, and have a great day!! :)

WET N WILD LE POP ART CRAZE NAIL POLISH COLLECTION: REVIEW & SWATCHES

Prepare yourself for another post in our Feeling Pretty series....

Wet n Wild is one of our absolute FAVORITE brands for makeup and nail polish because their products are super affordable, while maintaining very high quality! We always get excited--and when I say "excited," I mean jumping up and down and squealing like an idiot in the middle of the cosmetic aisle-- when we see a new limited edition collection from them. Their latest is the Pop Art Craze collection, which includes six incredibly bright and fun nail polishes! We loved the colors so much, we bought the whole collection and are eager to share it with you!!

So where did we find these amazing nail polishes and how much did we spend?! Well, let me tell you! We found the collection at Smith's Marketplace, on a very cute and bright display! Each nail polish was available for only 79 cents, which is a steal! We got the whole collection for only $4.75, plus tax. Also, I've read on other blogs that the collection is available at Walgreen's too, but we could not find this particular collection at our local Walgreen's this time (although we usually do). I think the Wild Shine polishes cost ten to twenty cents more at Walgreen's than at Smith's Marketplace, but 99 cents is still a great deal! And I think you should know that our cute puppy, Sprinkle, gave these polishes her kiss of approval!

Let's talk about the colors! There is a brilliant white with a cream finish (as opposed to matte or shimmer) called "A Blank Canvas." We love that it is a true, bright white! It is gorgeous! But it can be a little tricky to apply because this particular polish does not go on very smoothly with thin coats. Kaitlyn had to apply two thicker coats to make it look nice and even (although just one thick coat looked fine, too), but it is totally worth it!

"Teal Slowly and See" is a light, bright blue, and I am officially in love with it! It is the PERFECT light blue, with a creamy finish. Kaitlyn swears she has been on the hunt for this color for months, and I wish you could have seen her face light up when she found this little gem! The picture does not even do this stunning color justice! It also goes on like a dream. It is smooth and opaque with just one or two coats, and the formula reminds me a lot of the Wet n Wild Mega Last Nail Colors, which are amazing!

The other blue in the collection is a bit deeper, but still very bright and pretty. It also has a cream finish. It is called "Listening to Blue Reed." Cami and I wish we had had this color for Independence Day! It would have made a great manicure for the holiday! Anyway, this one goes on very nicely, too! It also reminds me of the Mega Last line, and we all love the color so much! It's Cami's favorite! PLEASE NOTE: The picture of this blue looks extremely similar to to the one above, but I promise this one is a bit darker in person. They are not really that similar. If you look at the manicure pictures at the bottom of this post, you can see the colors a little better... Sorry about that!!

"Stand the Test of Lime" is a bright, light green! It is a nice lime color with a cream finish that screams summertime! I can practically taste limeade just by looking at it! However, this does not go on quite as smoothly as the blues do; it takes about three really thin coats (with dry time in between each coat); but as long as you have the time, it's not an inconvenience. This is the color that first caught my eye, and I am super stoked to have it in my collection!

There is a neon purple called "Who is Ultra Violet?" that we are also loving to pieces! It is not really dark or really light; it is a happy medium with a punch of neon vibrancy! Like all the other colors in this collection, it has a cream finish. The color is unique and beautiful! It also goes on really easily. Two coats is all you need for some hot purple nails!

"The Clock Strikes Orange" is a really pretty one, too! This orange shade is another super unique color with a cream finish. If a cantaloupe and a pumpkin had a neon baby, it would be this color! I'm not a huge orange person, but I honestly LOVE this one! It goes on nicely, just like the purple and blue colors do!

We had a lot of fun painting our nails with the polishes from the Wet n Wild Pop Art Craze Collection! Take a look at the manicures we put together by mixing and matching different colors from the collection!

We highly recommend that you check out Wet n Wild's amazing nail polishes, and grab some of these limited edition colors while they are still available! They are all so bright and beautiful! I cannot decide which one I love most, but Sprinkle's favorite is "Who is Ultra Violet?" What is your favorite color from the collection? Let us know in the comment section below! Thanks for reading! :)
